Trouble sleeping? Turn on Windows 10 Night Light to reduce eye strain

The Windows 10 Night Light feature reduces eye strain and improves sleep quality after long nights in front of your computer or laptop screen. I am a programmer and know all about late nights in front of my computer screen. This relatively unknown feature has helped me sleep better.

If you have trouble sleeping; laptop or tablet use before bedtime might be to blame. Because using a tablet or computer in the late evening disrupts the body’s melatonin production.

The Night Light feature allows you to dim and make your display warmer. It reduces the blue light of a screen and uses a yellowish tint to make the screen look warmer. You can either turn it on manually or schedule it to turn it on automatically in the evenings. For example, from Sunset to Sunrise.

How to Turn On Night Light

To start, press the Windows Key + i buttons together to open the Settings app. Or click on the Settings icon on the left-hand side of the Windows 10 Start Menu.

On the Settings page, go to System and then Display. On the right-hand side, you will see an option called Night light under the Brightness and Color settings.

Before turning the Night Light setting on, click on the Night light settings link to configure it to your preference. On the Settings page, you can select the Color temperature level and schedule it to automatically turn on from Sunset to Sunrise or between custom times. I recommend the default Sunset to Sunrise option, but it is your choice.
